Pacific East Air was founded by several ex-Western Airlines executives.  Operations began on June 14, 1982 between Los Angeles and Honolulu.  Later routes included Chicago-Los Angeles, San Francisco-Honolulu and New York-Los Angeles.  The carrier filed for bankruptcy on May 9, 1984 and ceased operations.
